Located two miles up Deep River Road between Gray’s River and Naselle, the Deep River Pioneer Church is a beautifully restored structure that bears witness to the influence of Scandinavian pioneers on the Lower Columbia River.
Originally called the Finnish Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, the current building was completed in 1902. The structure still contains the original pews and woodstove, as well as an Estey pump organ that was built between 1908 and 1910.
In 1974, the church was placed on the National Register of Historic Sites. It is one of the only remaining landmarks in Deep River.
Across from the church is a small cemetery containing graves from the early 1800s. The Deep River Pioneer Church has hosted weddings and cultural events, including the Finnish-American Folk Festival.
