The Wahkiakum Community Foundation was founded in 2003 to encourage philanthropy among the people of Wahkiakum County and the Lower Columbia region. With help from grants, private donors and fundraising events, the Foundation works within the community, helping to build a strong economy while promoting a healthy environment.
The goal and purpose of the foundation is to develop a mechanism for people to make charitable contributions that enhance the area’s quality of life.
Established in 2003, over the last six years the foundation has raised over $1 million, helping preserve historic local treasures such as the Julia Butler Hansen Heritage Center and Ahlberg Park.
